The River Styx forms the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead. I came upon this definition of “Styx”: a loathing of death. And that river must be crossed in order for the soul to find peace.

These pieces were the culmination of the “Day” series of Bone Fire and were followed by the dark paintings of the “Night” series.
