Bone Fire:
The branches of the dead and dying junipers and pinons around our house are gnarly; They have grown in one direction and then another as if writhing or searching, feeling their way—though dead, they embody a life force.
Perhaps the paintings represent a sort of “danse macabre”--the urge to live and dance in the face of the world’s current agonies and the inevitability of death.
